Albion are flying to Huddersfield and back for the game in Yorkshire tomorrow night.

If Sami Hyypia followed the lead of former Huddersfield manager Neil Warnock, he would insist on less luxurious preparations in the future if they do not return South with a result.

Huddersfield legend Andy Booth, in his column for the local paper the Daily Examiner, has revealed current Crystal Palace boss Warnock's unusual response to his team's poor form for a game at the Goldstone.

Booth said: "When I think of Brighton, I am always reminded of the time I played as a substitute for Town at the old Goldstone Ground in Neil Warnock’s first season with the club (1993-94).

"It was early in the season and the previous away game had been down at Swansea and we had lost, which Neil wasn’t too happy about at all.

"We’d gone down the previous day to Wales, had a nice stay and preparation at a luxury hotel and then we’d gone out and played really poorly.

"I can remember the gaffer giving us some fearful stick and saying that was that, we were not going to have any more overnight stays before away games if we were going to play like that.

"We were too pampered, he reckoned, and there was no point wasting the club’s money on us.

"I’m not sure if he realised at the time that the next away game was at Brighton, but he said we would travel to all our away games for the rest of the season on the day of the match.

"True to his word, we set off for Brighton at 6am on the day of the game, with the manager buttering toast for our breakfast at the back of the bus!

"We didn’t even go to a hotel for a pre-match meal. We had a toaster and a microwave, so it was beans on toast on the bus – physio Dave Wilson and assistant boss Mick Jones lending a hand with the cooking – and then off to the ground.

"We ended up drawing 2-2, with Iffy Onuora getting our equaliser, and the gaffer was happy – so we travelled to all our away games that season on the day of the match."
