Albion have stepped up their search for a striker during the loan transfer window.

Manager Sami Hyypia told The Argus ten days ago the Seagulls were not particularly looking for another front man.

The situation has changed now that his side have gone two more games since the international break, against Middlesbrough and Huddersfield, without a win or a goal from the strikers.

Hyypia revealed: "At that stage we were not desperate to find somebody. Of course, now, when we still have the same problem maybe we are looking a little bit more.

"Whether we get one I don't know but definitely the situation is now that we have to do something.

"If we find the right one then probably something will happen but if we don't find the right one I wouldn't want to do anything just for the sake of it.

"We need to think carefully what type of players we need and what type of players would help us to solve the problems we have, then go for them, not just take someone.

"When I add numbers I would like to add quality if possible."

Hyypia does not mind how Albion get the points against Rotherham at the Amex today, as long as they secure a first victory in ten games in the Championship.

The Finn said: "At this moment I would take an ugly win for sure. I think one win would then give us more confidence to go to the next game and it would calm things down outside.

"I think everything is very calm in the club. I understand fans have ambition as well and want us to be at the other end of the table but inside the club it's peaceful and I think we have good circumstances in which to work."
