Albion midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey has banned himself from Twitter to focus on the fight to climb the Championship table.

Goalkeeper David Stockdale withdrew from the social networking site following last Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat by Middlesbrough, because of “too many negative comments toward me and my team-mates.”

Now England Under-21s star Forster-Caskey has followed suit. He revealed to The Argus: “I’m off Twitter now, just because I have never been in this situation where the club is not doing so well.

“I think it’s time just to really get your head down. I want the club to do better and I want to put everything into it to get us up the table.”

Stockdale and Forster-Caskey have become targets through social media for supporters frustrated by the Seagulls’ poor start to the season.

Forster-Caskey said: “I think everybody knows I am on Twitter so maybe I am (a target).

“I think it’s an easy way for the fans to get over their disappointment, so I’ve decided to come off it.

“It’s tough. As players you do see it. All the players see it and when things aren’t going well obviously it’s not great. When things are good then it’s happy for everybody.

“It’s for the fans to get behind us now. We are doing everything we can to push us up the table for the fans and everybody else at the club. Hopefully they can get behind us too, because we really need them.”

Stockdale has returned to Twitter this week but only on subjects either not football or not Albion related.
