SAMI Hyypia does not believe Albion face a season-long battle against relegation.

But the manager has admitted “something needs to change” and he is hoping to freshen up the squad.

The Seagulls are 21st in the Championship after drawing for the sixth time in seven games against Rotherham at the Amex.

Hyypia said: “At the moment I wouldn't like to approach it this way (like a relegation fight), because I have high targets for this season still and we still have time to reach those targets but something needs to change.

“We need to toughen up and then hopefully we’ll get the results as well. It made it more difficult coming so late in the summer. I didn’t have a lot of time to get maybe the players we would have wanted and got if I had signed in April or something. I signed only a few weeks before we started pre-season.

“As a manager you need to try in the transfer market to do the best you can and then with the squad you have to try always to get everything out of them. That’s my target. We’ve spoken about maybe one or two new faces and we will need to see if we can get those kind of faces in that strengthen the squad and will help us to get results.”
