Crawley have secured the signing of Shaun Miller on loan from Coventry City just 90 minutes before the loan deadline.

The striker has joined Reds from their League One rivals until December 28 and goes straight into the squad for the visit of Chesterfield on Saturday.

The arrival of Miller will boost boss John Gregory’s attacking options over the next month and take some of the pressure off nine-goal top scorer Izale McLeod.

Miller, 27, has scored twice for Coventry in 12 appearances this season – 11 as substitute – but has not featured at all since his only start in the 4-1 defeat at Oldham Athletic five weeks ago.

Gregory said: “I’m really pleased to get this one over the line as Shaun has been on our radar for a little while.

“He has scored goals at League One level throughout his career and we think he can give us a boost at just the right time.

“He’s definitely got an eye for goal and he also works extremely hard for the team with and without the ball. We’re looking forward to seeing him in a Crawley Town shirt and I’m sure our fans will make him feel welcome on Saturday at the Chesterfield game.”

Miller began his career at Crewe where he scored 43 goals in 179 appearances before joining Sheffield United in July 2012. He struggled to make an impact at Bramall Lane, playing only 35 games in two seasons, before moving to Coventry during the summer.
