Albion have extended the versatile Greg Halford's loan spell from Championship rivals Nottingham Forest until the end of December.
His stay at the Amex was due to expire following the visit to table-toppers Derby County a week tomorrow.
Halford, 29, was signed primarily as centre-half cover for the injured Aaron Hughes but Hughes made a quicker than expected recovery from ankle damage.
Halford's two substitute appearances to date, at home to Wigan and in last Saturday's 3-3 draw at Norwich, have been in midfield.
The deal means manager Sami Hyypia now has new loan capture Darren Bent, Elliott Bennett and Halford available for five matches in December after Fulham's visit tomorrow.
Halford could be the unfortunate sixth loan signing to miss out on the squad against Fulham. Rules only permit Albion to name five temporary captures in their matchday squad.
