Whitehawk are hoping to take out their frustration out by winning in the FA Trophy at Basingstoke today.

The Hawks lost 1-0 at then leaders Basingstoke in the league last month despite being the better side throughout.

That will be on their minds as they prepare for the third qualifying round tie.

They were also frustrated last weekend when the postponement of their Vanarama Conference south game at Weston-super-Mare denied them the opportunity to climb into the play-off positions.

Steven King’s team, though, are in good form with ten points out of a possible 12 since that defeat at Basingstoke.

And they boast a fully fit squad as they try to right the supposed wrongs this weekend.

Boss King said: “We have had a good month and I believe we are stronger as a team.

“We should have beaten Basingstoke. They had a 15-minute spell when they scored but otherwise we battered them.

“They said afterwards we were the best team they had played which was nice but it was disappointing to lose to them.

“We were gutted last weekend that Weston-super-Mare was the only game off in England. It was so frustrating because if we had won we would have moved into the top three.

“But we are on a decent run, we are scoring goals as well and we are looking forward to going to Basingstoke again.”

Left-back Lee Hills has shaken off a hamstring injury to be fit for the game and Ahmed Abdulla is also ready to return after a hamstring problem.

King is still trying to add a couple of new faces to a squad which he believes lacks depth. A forward and a defender are understood to be his targets.

The future of striker Matthew Barnes-Homer remains unclear. The forward’s successful loan spell at former Macclesfield ended last weekend but it is not known whether he still has a part to play in King’s plans at the Enclosed Ground.
