David Stockdale is glad that Albion chairman Tony Bloom is bucking the trend of managerial upheaval in the Championship.

Especially after the Seagulls' No. 1 experienced for himself at Fulham last season that changing the manager does not necessarily work.

Bloom has resisted calls from fans to 'bin the Finn' and sack Sami Hyypia following one league win in 17.

Eight of the bottom 11 clubs in the second tier have a different man at the helm already this season.

The other exceptions are Ian Holloway at Millwall and former Crawley boss Steve Evans at promoted Rotherham.

Expectations at those clubs are lower, especially at Rotherham, but Stockdale regards it as "refreshing" that Bloom has stuck to his guns by continuning to believe in Hyypia.

It is quite a contrast with Fulham last season, where Martin Jol was sacked in December, his successor Rene Meulensteen replaced in February and they were still relegated from the Premier League under Felix Magath.

Stockdale told The Argus: "I understand both sides. It's a results-based business but I think the chairman is one of the best in football. He understands, he's Brighton, he's a Brighton fan. He understands the club and that instability, in business or anything, isn't good.

"He believes in why he brought the manager in and we believe he is the right man with the way he plays and the way he is with the lads. It’s really nice to see that someone has just left it alone.

"He hasn't come out and given a vote of confidence or anything. It's really refreshing because inside the club it’s a tough time but every club has gone through tough times and negative times.

"It’s positive inside and we believe in everything we’re doing from top to bottom, the chairman downward. He believes in the stability we need and he understands what’s going on. He speaks to the manager.

"It's really nice actually, because with three managers you were not only changing the manager but who is in the team, the staff, the training.

"It's a big thing. It's not just sacking a manager or a manager resigning, it's a whole club and playing staff revamp."
