Darren Bent believes Albion were on course for a much-needed win at Wolves until Bruno's second half red card.

The on-loan Aston Villa striker's second goal in four games early on was cancelled out in the closing stages by Wanderers in the 1-1 draw at Molineux following Bruno's dismissal for a two-footed jump tackle.

Bent told The Argus: "Obviously it would have been nice to take all three points but we take heart from the performance. For a lot of the first half we controlled the game and played really well.

"They came back into it but I thought we could have held onto it. Obviously the sending-off changes things and we were lucky to hang on but at the same time we will build on this point."

Bent headed in a first-time cross from Inigo Calderon. Manager Sami Hyypia highlighted in the build-up to the game that the former England marksman had suffered from a lack of speedy service in the previous home defeat by Millwall.

Bent said: "It was a great ball from Calde today. It was crying out for that kind of ball against Millwall and it didn't happen then for what ever reason.

"We looked dangerous and the three points would have been good but a point is better than nothing.

"Wolves is always a nice play to come and play, a nice stadium and atmosphere. The boys showed we can cope.

"They have got some good players but, up until the sending-off, we controlled the game, caused them problems and the fans were getting on their backs.

"In games like that it's little details that change games and the sending-off was a key factor in that."
