ALBION boss Sami Hyypia has admitted Bruno has only himself to blame for missing the Christmas and New Year programme.

The experienced Spaniard is suspended for the Boxing Day visit by Reading, next Monday’s trip to Fulham and the FA Cup tie at Brentford on January 3 after his red card at Wolves.

Bruno, moved from right-back into midfield, was sent-off early in the second half for a two-footed jump tackle on Kevin McDonald, pictured above, who continued after treatment.

The ten men held out until Danny Baath’s late equaliser from a corner denied Albion a second win in 18 games.

Referee Darren Bond also sent-off Bruno’s fellow Spaniard Inigo Calderon for a high boot when he took charge of the Capital One Cup win at Burton Albion in September but Hyypia had no complaints about the decision this time.

The Finn said: “He (Bruno) came with two feet and studs showing and if you read the rule book you can show a red card.

“He was upset with the red card. That is normal. It was an important game and we were leading.”

Rotherham’s win at Wigan means Albion head into Christmas four points adrift of safety.
