BSKIPPER Joe Walsh says Crawley cannot afford to feel sorry for themselves.

Reds slumped to the bottom of League One on Saturday following a fourth successive defeat at Fleetwood Town.

They go to Chesterfield tonight bidding to boost their hopes of avoiding relegation by ending a run of 14 games without a win and Walsh admits the looming threat of going down is bound to have an effect on morale among the squad.

But he has urged his team-mates to rally ahead of their clash at the Proact Stadium tonight where a first win since October 21 would lift them to within two points of safety.

Walsh said: “Obviously everyone is feeling pretty down at the moment but there is no point feeling sorry for ourselves because if we do we’ll just keep on losing.

“We’ve got to pick ourselves up and try to get a win from somewhere which hopefully will kick-start our season again.

“I’m sure that once we get one win the confidence will return and we’ll start picking up results and pull away from the relegation zone.

“It’s just getting that first win which is difficult but we need to get it soon or we’ll find ourselves losing touch at the bottom.

“All we can do is keep working hard on the training ground and hopefully we’ll get our rewards on the pitch.”

Crawley failed to register a single shot on target at Fleetwood on Saturday and have only scored six times in their last eight matches.

Boss Dean Saunders could be tempted to hand Dean Morgan a debut alongside top scorer Izale McLeod tonight.
