Title expert Beram Kayal has targeted more success with Albion after completing his move from Celtic.

The Seagulls secured a visa from the Home Office for Kayal in Sheffield yesterday, 24 hours after the FA granted a work permit, and the Israeli midfielder has now signed a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Albion still need international clearance from the FA. Lack of preparation may also affect Kayal’s involvement in tomorrow’s trip to fellow strugglers Blackpool, but the 26-year-old multiple league winner with Celtic in Scotland and Maccabi Haifa in Israel is eager to help turn the club back into Championship promotion challengers.

Kayal said: “I want to be at the top, so I want success for the club and that’s my target.

“I have won the league a few times in Israel and Scotland and played in the Champions League. I’m looking to go forward with Brighton, and I believe this club is trying to build something good for the future and they’re looking forward too.

“They have a fantastic new stadium, new training ground and the manager wanted me here. So there’s a lot of things that came together to make me feel happy.”

Kayal said it has always been his “dream” to play in England. He added: “Now it’s a great chance for me to come in and prove myself here.

“To leave Celtic was the same as leaving Maccabi Haifa. I felt part of the family at every club I’ve played for, as I always give 100 per cent in every training session and every game.

“It was hard for me to leave Maccabi and now Celtic as well, but I want to come and feel part of the Brighton and Hove Albion family.”

Boss Chris Hughton is weighing up whether to involve Kayal at Blackpool if international clearance is received in time.

Hughton said: “It’s about getting up to speed. He hasn’t been able to train with the team yet which is a blow, because it would have been a good week for that to happen.

“We’ll see where he is. He’ll be desperate to get involved as soon as possible, but we need to assess him once he’s trained with the team.

“Although he’s fit he is not match sharp at the moment and we’ve got to determine how long that will take. But we anticipate him being involved fairly quickly.”
