But Whitehawk and Eastbourne Borough both suffered defeats in Vanarama Conference premier.

In Ryman south, the Hillians won 2-1 away to Tooting and Mitcham thanks to skipper Darren Budd’s opener and Rob O’Toole’s winner 16 minutes from time after the hosts had equalised right on half-time.

Ian Chapman’s side hold a three-point advantage at the top over Faversham who lost 2-1 away to Hythe Town.

Worthing remain in the final play-off position despite conceding in the 90th-minute to lose 2-1 at home to lowly Walton Casuals. That was after leading at half-time thanks to a 31st-minute opener from Lloyd Dawes.

That result was bad news for Horsham who slipped back to second from bottom after losing 4-0 at home to fellow strugglers Redhill.

In Ryman premier, Peacehaven enjoyed an excellent 2-0 win at home to fifth-placed Hendon. Jamie Brotherton opened the scoring on 36 minutes and Tom Burton clinched victory with the second goal six minutes from time.

Lewes won 3-2 at home to sixth-placed East Thurrock. They led 3-0 by the 52nd minute thanks to two goals from Sam Cole and one from Leroy Griffiths but the visitors ensured a tense finish after David Bryant netted on the hour-mark and Sam Higgins added another in the closing stages.

Bognor drew 1-1 at home to Billericay, Jason Prior levelling with a 74th-minute penalty.

In Conference south, Whitehawk slipped to fifth spot after a 2-1 defeat away to fellow play-off hopefuls Chelmsford. Jake Robinson cancelled out an early opener for the hosts but Chelmsford won it after a mistake by debutant goalkeeper Seb Brown.

Eastbourne Borough lost 1-0 at home to Bath City, who visit Whitehawk on Tuesday.

In County League division one, Dorking Wanderers moved to within a point of leaders Pagham after coming back from 3-1 down to win 7-3 at Lancing. Kev Terry and Liam Hunter hit hat-tricks.
