This was the moment Eastbourne Eagles reserve Kelsey Dugard had a lucky escape - when he was run over by his brother.

The 16-year-old reserve, who will make his debut next month, came a cropper in a pit bike competition staged at Arlington.

His elder brother Connor, who is Eagles’ commercial manager, was close behind and had no option but to run over him.

Both riders were taken to hospital but both escaped with minor bumps and grazes.

Connor said: "It was like a break-the-ice moment for Kelsey, the sort of thing that could happen when the league season starts."

Eagles start their campaign at home to Kent in the Trophy at Arlington on Good Frdiday, April 3 (7.30pm)

The collision was captured by a camera on Connor’s crash helmet.

Former Eagles speedway star and GP wild card Edward Kennett won the pit bike event.

The track plan to stage more such events in a bid to make Arlington a hub of two-wheeled action. Updates can be found at their Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/eastbourne.eagles
