Burgess Hill took another step closer to the Ryman south title tonight.

The Hillians had to settle for a 1-1 draw away to Corinthian-Casuals which leaves them needing another seven points to be guaranteed as champions.

They are 12 points clear at the top with a game in hand on second-placed Faversham who they visit on Saturday.

Faversham closed the gap by two points last night after beating Carshalton 5-0.

Pat Harding put Burgess Hill ahead on 24 minutes but Max Austin levelled for Casuals with 13 minutes remaining.

Ben Pope scored twice as Worthing climbed back up to seventh in the table with a stunning 7-0 win away to South Park.

Adam Hinshelwood’s side led 4-0 at the interval with Pope’s brace sandwiching efforts from Omar Bugiel and Tom Lawley. Second-half goals followed from Bradley Isaacs, Will Hendon and Brannon O’Neill.

At the bottom, Hastings, East Grinstead and Horsham were all boosted by Redhill’s 3-0 defeat at home to Merstham.

In Ryman premier, Peacehaven suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Witham Town.

In County League division, Selsey claimed only their second win of the season with a thumping 7-1 success away to Ringmer, who parted company with manager Jason Hopkinson on Sunday.

Wick and Barnham reached the Division Two Cup final after beating AFC Uckfield Town 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
