Norwich have extra reason to worry about Albion than Chris Hughton putting one over the club that sacked him.

The calendar suggests Good Friday could turn into a bad Friday for the Canaries and their ambitions of a return to the Premier League.

April tends to be the month when Albion spring into top form.

They will be defending against Norwich a remarkable 16-match unbeaten run in the penultimate month of the season.

The sequence has blossomed ever since Albion were made to look like April Fools by West Ham during their debut campaign at the Amex.

Gus Poyet's side suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat at Upton Park after losing narrowly at home to Reading, who went on to become Championship champions in 2011-12.

Hughton, at that time, was guiding Birmingham towards the play-offs, a goal helped by a 1-1 draw at the Amex in the second game of Albion's awesome April run.

The following year, when Albion reached the play-offs under Poyet, they hit Blackpool for six in April during a month-long burst of three wins and three draws.

It was also in April last year under Oscar Garcia that Albion's late dash for a top six finish gathered pace.

A hectic month yielded three wins and four draws, including an extraordinary 4-1 triumph away to title winners Leicester.

Fourth-placed Norwich will not be the only test to Albion's hopes of keeping their April record in tact under Hughton. The top two, Bournemouth and Watford, visit as well.

Trips to Rotherham and Wigan, both fighting for their lives at the wrong end of the table, will also threaten the April pattern of success.

The Easter Monday journey to Rotherham marks the first anniversary of Hughton's dismissal from Norwich.

The Canaries have cause to be wary of both the Albion side he has galvanised and the timing of their visit.

Especially as Hughton's sacking followed the first of four straight defeats in April which had them heading for relegation under the now-departed Neil Adams.
