Albion boss Chris Hughton has played down fans’ response to Leon Best when he was substituted against Huddersfield at the Amex last night.
The second half striker swap, which saw Craig Mackail-Smith replace Best, was greeted with cheers and then jeers for the Blackburn Rovers loanee as he trudged off.
Hughton said: “I don’t think it was personal. We’ve got a super crowd that get behind us but they are probably at the moment feeling what we are all feeling, which is frustration that we are not getting the results we need and not scoring the goals we need.”
Hughton has dismissed reports linking Albion with a summer swoop for prolific Glasgow Rangers midfielder Nicky Law.
He told The Argus: “That is absolutely not one I’m aware of.”
