Whitehawk co-owner Peter McDonnell has appealed to Sussex football fans to support the club on what could be their biggest day to date.

Hawks will clinch a place in the Conference south play-offs if they beat Hemel Hempstead at home tomorrow – just five years after playing in the Sussex County League.

Should they fail to win, their fate could all come down to a last-day decider away to play-off rivals Havant and Waterlooville.

McDonnell believes a big crowd will help Whitehawk get the necessary points to avoid a final day nerve-jangler.

With Albion away, Seagulls season ticket holders will be allowed into the ground for £1 while people from the Whitehawk estate will be permitted in for £1 upon presentation of an unemployment card.

A fun day to help attract extra fans will include music after the game from the Piranhas and a hog roast.

McDonnell said: “It is our last home game of the season, we are trying to make a bit of a day of it and we want everybody to get behind us.

“We are expecting our biggest gate of the season and we are asking people out there to get behind us.

“We would like all ex-Whitehawk players, managers, coaches, family, friends and local people from the estate to help us give it one last push because basically it is one of the biggest games in the history of the club.

“Also Brighton are playing away and if we could extra support from within the city that would be great.”

Manager Steven King has a full squad to choose from, with John Paul Kissock and Pa Saikou Kujabi back from bans.

King said; “It will be tough as Hemel only just missed out on a play-off place themselves last week and have one of the best away records in the league.

“But we are on a good run and we know what is at the end of it if we do well.”
