Albion’s Championship status has been assured for another season following Millwall’s 2-0 defeat at Blackburn this evening.

The result leaves the Lions six points behind Chris Hughton’s men with two games to play.

However, Albion hold a goal difference of plus-24 over Millwall which would be impossible to bridge in two matches and thereby means the Seagulls can prepare for a fifth successive season in the second tier of English football.

Rudy Gestede gave Blackburn the lead 12 minutes from time and Jordan Rhodes added a late second.
