David Stockdale was involved in an extraordinary Twitter exchange last night – with former skipper Adam Virgo over a comment made a month ago.
Virgo, who now works as a media pundit, felt the Seagulls goalkeeper was at fault when Blackburn had a goal disallowed for a foul on him by Jordan Rhodes on March 21.
He said so at the time and last night Stockdale responded.
The keeper also hit back at Virgo’s comment in The Argus this week that Inigo Calderon’s performances did not merit a new deal.
@stockogk1313 just paid to give an opinion on what I see when I am at the games. Played the game long enough to know when GK makes a mistake

Virgo’s month-old tweet read: “That the bit of luck Stockdale needed making another mistake but ref saying was a foul. Hopefully won’t affect confidence for rest of game.”
Stockdale, who responded to a critical fan after defeat by Wigan on Saturday, replied: “Crazy game of opinions ain’t it?”
Virgo defended his right to offer an opinion.
@Adamvirgs19 opinions like @I_CALDERON_14 too old and shouldn't get a new contract?? POTY and too old?? You keep calling it how you see it👍

Stockdale then tweeted: “Opinions like @I_CALDERON_14 too old and shouldn’t get a new contract?? POTY and too old?? You keep calling it how you see it.”
Virgo later suggested Stockdale, a keen angler, “stick to trying to catch a ball than catching fish.”
The duo appeared to have agreed to disagree and meet up at a future game as the row fizzled out.
@stockogk1313 of course you have seen the team I was in! You know where I sit you want to see me face to face and talk no problem.
