Boss Dean Saunders admits Crawley let League One survival slip through their fingers after going down 4-3 at Peterborough United.

Reds led 3-2 with three minutes to go but goals from Michael Bostwick and Conor Washington pushed them into the bottom four with one game to go.

Victories for Notts County, Crewe and Colchester compounded the result for Crawley who will almost certainly need to win at home to Coventry City in their final game to stay up.

Saunders said: “Everyone is absolutely devastated in the dressing room. We were three minutes away from staying in this league but we just let it slip through our fingers.

“The Gods were against us today. We were really, really unlucky and the other results have gone against us too.

“We scored three good goals and I thought we looked in control but two of their goals came back off a post and their first goal came from a free kick which was never a foul.

“It is hard to take but we have got to put it behind us and move on to next week because if we win that game we should be all right.”
