Madison Keys is heading back to Eastbourne to defend her trophy at the Aegon International.

Keys, 20, powered to her first WTA Tour title 12 months ago with a three-set win over Angelique Kerber in the final.

The world No.17, who reached the semi-final of the Australian Open in January, joins two-time Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova in the field at Devonshire Park Keys said: “Going back to the scene of my first WTA Tour title will be a special moment.

“The Aegon International at Eastbourne holds many great memories and I am very excited to play there again.

“I feel comfortable on the courts and will be trying very hard to defend my title. The great fans and the special venue really helped me play my best tennis and I am looking forward to seeing all the friendly faces again in June.” Tournament Director, Gavin Fletcher, said: “Madison was a very popular winner last year and played some outstanding tennis throughout the week.

“It is great for the Aegon International Eastbourne that the defending champion is back to try and lift the trophy once more. With Madison joining Petra Kvitova in the field we have some world class players.”

The Aegon International will take place the week before Wimbledon from June 20-27 2015.

It forms part of the new British grasscourt season, which will see a three week window between Roland Garros and Wimbledon for the first time.

The extended grass court season will give players extra time to find their feet on grass.
