Liam Rosenior rejected options to stay in the Premier League to sign for Albion.

The Argus understands promoted Bournemouth were among the clubs interested in securing Rosenior's services after Hull were relegated and the full-back was released at the end of the season.

He chose Albion instead, because they offered him a three-year contract with the opportunity to developing his coaching and managerial aspirations.

Rosenior revealed: "There were Premier League clubs that were interested. From my point of view my next move was really important.

"I wanted somewhere long-term. It was about being part of something.

"I didn't just want to sign for a club for the short-term, I want to be here for a long time and help the club grow.

"There are teams that go up and after one or two seasons are back in the Championship. Part of the attraction of Brighton is what they have done here to build the structure of the club.

"They have 24,000 season ticket holders. It's a massive draw for me because I want to be somewhere where I can help the club grow."

Rosenior, who also played in the Premier League for Fulham and Reading, added: "I know they had a disappointing season last year but with Chris (Hughton) as manager I am sure they are going to be a different side and it will be great if I can be part of that."

The Albion players reported back yesterday for pre-season testing with Rosenior and fellow newcomer Tomer Hemed's signatures in the bag and plans for several more before the first Championship fixture against Nottingham Forest at the Amex on August 8.

Manager Chris Hughton said: "We know we have to have a good summer of recruitment, simply because of the players we lost at the end of last season - the loan players that have gone back and the players that were out of contract.

"To get a couple in before we start back training is a plus for the squad. I'm delighted with the two we've got in so far but the recruitment process continues. We are still working very hard to bring in the players we need for the start of the season."
