Eastbourne Eagles virtually assured themselves of a place in the Knockout Cup final - but lost their captain to serious injury in the process.
David Mason suffered a broken left tibia after falling in heat ten of Eagles' 42-28 win at Kent in the first leg of the semi.
He needed extensive treatment, including pain-easing gas and air, at trackside but was in good spirits as he was taken to hospital in Gillingham.
The combination of that lengthy display and an 8.30pm curfew meant the meeting was abandoned after 12 heats. The result stands.
Bradley Wilson-Dean won all three of his races and Richard Andrew underlined his steady return to form by beating home No.1 Ben Morley in the re-run after Mason was injured.
Kelsey Dugard was also impressive.
Kent: Shanes 8 (3), Ayres 6 (3), Baseby 6 (4), Morley 5 (3), Verge 2 (4), Couzins 1 (4), Basford 0 (4).
Eagles: Andrews 9+1 (5), Wilson-Dean 9 (3), Wood 8+2 (5), Dugard 7+4 (5), Owen 5+1 (3), Mason 4 (3), Bates R/R.
