Sussex are sweating over the fitness of Tymal Mills ahead of tonight’s clash with Middlesex in the NatWest T20 Blast.
Mills has been struggling with a back injury all season which has ruled him out of first class cricket and suffered another blow yesterday when he hurt a knee in catching practice.
Sussex will be desperate Mills shakes off the problem with the left-arm speedster having taken ten wickets in the T20 so far to help the Sharks surge towards the top of the south group.
Luke Wright’s men can go top tonight if they win at Lord’s and will have one foot in the quarter-finals if they follow it up with a fifth consecutive win against Kent in front of a packed house at Hove tomorrow night.
Coach Mark Robinson said: “Tymal jarred his knee going for a diving catch. We hope he’ll be okay but we’ll check to see how he feels this morning and make a decision then.”
