Crawley Town have signed goalkeeper Callum Preston on a one-year contract.
The Wales under-19 international has impressed in pre-season with the Reds.
He was released by Birmingham City in June and will now act as competition for a loan goalkeeper Reds manager Mark Yates expects to complete the signing of this week.
Yates said: “Callum has done well in pre-season, impressing us with both his ability and his attitude. We're pleased to have him with us.
“He is a young goalkeeper with a big future and we are looking forward to working with him this season and him improving his game in our environment."
