Premier League target Vicente Iborra believes something very special is happening at Sevilla.

And he hopes they offer a few hints as to why at the Amex on Sunday.

Iborra has stressed his commitment to the Europa League holders, despite a reported £6 million bid from West Brom.

The former Levante midfielder is doubtful for the friendly against the Seagulls but plans to travel with his colleagues, who also face Watford tonight.

An improved goal haul of seven last term led to the Baggies making a bid but Iborra knows where he is best off.

He told The Argus: “I’ve read about it (West Brom’s bid). But all I can say is how happy I am in Seville and I hope to stay here for a long time.

“It’s a fantastic city, my family are very happy here and, both from the personal and sporting point of view, I think I am progressing very well, especially through being at a big club like Sevilla.

“I think we can win trophies and as a player I can keep improving.”

Iborra is also believed to have caught the eye of Barcelona boss Luis Enrique He added: “These reports all mean you have done things well, it means you have a good season.

“But my club is Sevilla. It’s the club I commit myself to, where I am very settled and happy.

“Nothing has gone through my head other than staying here and doing well here.”

Some Albion fans seemed underwhelmed when Sevilla were announced as their pre-season opponents at the Amex.

But maybe that is partly down to the way the Europa League is dismissed in England.

The first team to win the trophy in successive years have made changes to the squad ahead of their Champions League campaign.

But Iborra admits Europe’s second competition is well worth going all out for.

He said: “It will always be special for Sevilla.

“At the start you don’t play teams who have big names but, as you go on and you get to the knockout stages, you see teams of a really high level.

“It is really hard to get through each round and you get through to play really heavyweight sides.

“A European competition always brings demands but we have a really big squad with a lot of players of a very similar level.

“We have the squad we need to tackle the three competitions we are going for.

“I think that is a strength of the coach, managing the squad well.

“We got to a European final and finished fifth in the league.”

Albion fans will, of course, have eyes mainly for their own side on Sunday.

But it will be interesting to see how they fare against a side just nine days away from another European final – against Barcelona for the Super Cup.

How do Sevilla now compare with the men who edged out Dnipro in the Europa League showpiece?

“I think it is hard to say,” Iborra admitted.

“We have brought in good players but also lost players who brought us a lot last season.

“It is early to assess but I think we have the team, if we work hard, to enjoy a complete season.”
