Tomer Hemed introduced himself to the Amex with a winning goal today.

The summer signing won and calmly converted a very generous 18th minute penalty as the Seagulls beat Sevilla 1-0 in a friendly at the Amex.

Andy Davies awarded the spot kick when Hemed appeared to have been beaten to the ball quite fairly by a pair of Sevilla defenders.

The striker grabbed the ball and sent Sergio Rico the wrong way.

Although the result counts for little, it was hugely positive exercise for Chris Hughton’s men less than a week from the Championship kick-off.

Albion had to get through a lot of defensive work against the Europa League winners.

David Stockdale made a handful of saves, notably with his foot when Vitolo was clean through.

But Sergio Rico at the other end was also tested by Beram Kayal from just outside the box.

Albion: Stockdale; Bruno (Rosenior 73), Greer, Dunk, Bong; March (Calderon 73), Stephens (Ince 82), Kayal, LuaLua (Forster-Caskey 80); Hemed (O’Grady 80), Baldock (Holla 73).
