Albion have brought former goal hero and veteran striker Bobby Zamora back to the club.

The fans' favourite rejoined the Seagulls tonight on a one-year contract after parting company with Queens Park Rangers at the end of last season.

Zamora, 34, made his name with Albion, scoring 83 goals in just over three seasons between 2000 and 2003 to earn a move to Spurs.

He has also played for West Ham, Fulham and England since his first spell with Albion.

Boss Chris Hughton said: "We are absolutely delighted to have brought Bobby back to Brighton. He needs absolutely no introduction here. The Albion fans know everything about him, from his achievements in a Brighton shirt and right through his time with Spurs, West Ham, Fulham and QPR.

"I also know Bobby well, having worked with him during his time at Spurs, and he is a great professional. I know he will bring plenty of experience to the team, having played Premier League, European and international football.

"He will also bring a lot in terms of character to the club and to the dressing room - but most importantly, having played more than 30 times for QPR last season, he brings top quality to our offensive options."

The return of Zamora does not complete Hughton's plan to strengthen his attacking options.

He said: "We still have work to do in terms of adding to the squad, including those offensive options, in terms of creating and scoring goals."

Zamora joined Albion first time around from Bristol Rovers for £100,000 in the summer of 2000, having impressed during a prolific loan spell the previous season.

After helping the Seagulls win back-to-back League Two and League One titles in 2001 and 2002, he eventually moved to Spurs for £1.5 million.

He helped Fulham reach the Europa League Final in 2010 and was called up to the England squad during Fabio Capello's time in charge, only for injury to rule him out of the World Cup Finals.
