Bobby Zamora has told fans he is a different player to the teenage goalscorer that made his name with Albion 15 years ago.

The striker, now 34, rejoined the Seagulls last night, signing a one-year deal.

He said: "I will take one game at a time and aim to do as well as I can.

"My game has changed a bit and it's probably not as prolific as I would like, but I hope to bring a lot to the team in terms of holding the ball up and bringing other players into the game."

Zamora has been without a club since parting company with Queens Park Rangers at the end of last season following their relegation from the Premier League.

He said: "I probably need to get some minutes under my belt. It's hard to do a so-called pre-season on your own, on a treadmill or bike, but now I'm looking forward to training.

"After being in the game for so many years. You miss pre-season, even though it is hard and can be quite horrible, you miss the banter in the changing room. I'm sure I'll be fit very soon."

Zamora, who left Albion first time around for Spurs after they were relegated from the Championship, is aiming for a promotion hat-trick from the second tier after scoring winning goals for West Ham and QPR in the play-off final.

He said: "Hopefully all the new players can gel and we can do well. Promotion is key, we're here to get promoted, so that's got to be our aim and we'll try to do that.

"The aim has to be to try to get into the play-offs, or better. Once you get into the play-offs then anything can happen.

"If you're going to be successful, you've got to show togetherness as a team. It's also down to having the ability not to lose and to put your body on the line. Hopefully we can do that and be a tough team to beat."
