Bruno has highlighted the contrasting challenges of playing against the Championship’s array of wide boys.

And he knows a bit about the test looming today as the Seagulls face a man they once signed and another they tried to.

Blackburn come to the Amex chasing a first win they should probably have secured at home to Cardiff City on Tuesday, when they gifted a goal, missed chances and had to scrape a 1-1 draw as time ran out.

Craig Conway gradually developed into a genuine attacking force for the Seagulls when on loan under Oscar Garcia almost two years ago.

Meanwhile former Leicester wideman Ben Marshall was subject of an offer from the Seagulls this summer.

Conway remains a genuine wideman and delivered the pinpoint cross from which Grant Hanley sidefooted home Rovers’ late but deserved equaliser against Cardiff on Tuesday.

Marshall is a different proposition. He is more likely to pop up behind the frontman these days with Mo Barrow, on loan from Swansea, outside him.

The Catalan right-back believes the test for him in England is different to back in the Spanish top flight.

And his previous home outing offered a good example as to why.

Bruno told The Argus: “It’s difficult because normally they are really strong and powerful, like Michail Antonio (of Nottingham Forest).

“There are really good wingers and, especially in this league, it is not really about tactical play.

“It is all the time running, one-versus-ones.

“It’s about concentration, particularly in this league. To be in the right place all the time is the most important.”

Bruno was a big admirer of Conway during his stint with the Seagulls, the best performance of which came in the memorable 3-1 win over would-be champions Leicester City.

Exciting days like that seemed a long way off during some humdrum times last season.

But Albion’s fans are enjoying their football again and Bruno admits it feels a bit more fun to the players too.

He said: “I’m enjoying it. Of course when the results are there everything is easier and you enjoy it more.

“Last season was a tough season for everyone and you need to learn from every single experience.

“I think we have learned and we keep going.”
