Chris Jordan returned his first five-wicket haul in the LV County Championship for 17 months to enable Sussex to establish a position of strength on day one of the Division One basement battle with Worcestershire at New Road.
Jordan, in only his second Championship appearance since a lengthy absence with a side injury, wreaked havoc for the home side in two devastating spells.
The England paceman took the new ball after Worcestershire had elected to bat and produced a spell of two for 24 in seven overs.
Then 26-year-old Jordan returned after lunch for another productive burst of 3-30 in nine overs.
It completed his first five-wicket return since his 5-76 against Somerset at Hove in April 2014 and he ended the day with figures of 19-4-57-5.
Rain came to Worcestershire's rescue and play was called off at 5pm, with the total 185-9 and Alex Gidman unbeaten on 37.
