Steven King has told his Whitehawk players they cannot afford to revel in a great start to the season.

The Hawks have lost just once in 12 matches and go into today’s National League south game at home to St Albans City on the back of a nine-match unbeaten run including four wins on the trot.

But King does not want his players to rest on their laurels and has told them they have achieved nothing yet.

He said: “We have started well with just one defeat in 12 games. It is a good start but that’s all it is.

“We must keep going and keep trying to accumulate as many points as we can.”

King could have only three substitutes for today’s game.

Jake Robinson and Juan Cruz Gotta were both forced off with injuries in the first half of last Saturday’s FA Cup win at home to Dulwich Hamlet.

Former Albion striker Robinson has aggravated a calf injury, although King does not believe it is serious and hopes the frontman will be back in action next weekend.

Argentinean defender Cruz Gotta was withdrawn with a tight hamstring but he too could return for the third qualifying round of the FA Cup at home to Gosport Borough next Saturday.

It should be an intriguing tie with both sides in the National League south play-off places and having drawn 2-2 at Gosport in August.

King, meanwhile, is still trying to add to his squad.
