Chris Hughton has praised his side's consistency after another manager of the month nomination.

The Albion boss has been pipped to the September award, despite seeing his side remain unbeaten and top of the table.

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka takes the prize after guiding his side to within a point of the Seagulls at the month's end.

They beat MK Dons, Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Leeds in a perfect month.

Boro then kicked off October by losing 2-0 at Reading, whose boss Steve Clarke was also up for the September prize along with Derby chief Paul Clement.

Hughton won the August award and is happy with his team's continuing progress.

He said: "I think we have been quite consistent.

"What has pleased me is we haven't lost a game.

"We have got to make sure we keep our levels of performance up."

Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes was Championship player of the month for September having scored in all four games, five goals in all, after returning from injury.
