Wright gets the Ramps treatment

Luke Wright joined the long list of bowlers who have suffered at the hands of Mark Ramprakash yesterday.

Wright took one of only two Surrey wickets to fall as the visitors, fortified by Ramprakash's 91st first-class century, reached 311-2 after day one at Hove.

Wright said: "You know as a bowler that anything off line is going to go and sometimes you have to accept that he is going to put away some of your bad balls as well.

"You just have to keep banging out your length and try to create opportunities. We did do that but didn't take our chances. On another day we could have had taken six or seven wickets because we bowled pretty well. If we keep doing that our luck is going to change at some stage."

Wright rates Ramprakash alongside former Yorkshire player Darren Lehmann as the best batsman he has faced.

He added: "He has proved it year after year what a good player he is. He has scored runs against all attacks and is a special player."
