Gary Neville has backed James Wilson's loan move to Albion as good for Manchester United and the player.
United chief Louis Van Gaal is under fire from fans for letting Wilson leave.
England coach and former United full-back Neville tweeted this morning: "People "Shocked" Wilson leaving on loan. Why? He hasn't played and is a lad who needs to play all the time at his age. Better for him and MU.
"Lot of young lads end up age 22 with only 50 games under their belt through waiting in the wings. Get them playing and learning."
Wilson has been limited to two appearances for United this season, coming on as a late substitute against Arsenal at the start of last month and a Capital One Cup defeat at home to Middlesbrough when he was hauled off at the interval.
