Bobby Zamora has targeted automatic promotion with Albion after scoring another precious winner.

The legendary striker, in his second spell at the club, says it would be "foolish" not to look at a top two finish.

Zamora celebrated his first home start for over 12 years with the second half winner against Birmingham at the Amex to take the Seagulls back to the top of the Championship, still unbeaten after 18 games.

His fourth goal in 13 appearances was also the third time he has scored the decisive third goal in a 2-1 victory.

Albion are two points clear of Middlesbrough and Derby, ten ahead of Ipswich in seventh spot.

Zamora told The Argus: "Automatic is what we want. We don't want to be getting in the play-offs but we are not focusing on the end of the season at all.

"It's just pretty much about who we have next (Charlton at home) and keeping the record going and staying unbeaten. If we focus on that, we have a good chance of getting promotion."

Albion borrowed James Wilson from Manchester United, who came on for Zamora against Birmingham, and unused substitute Rajiv Van La Parra from Wolves at the end of the loan transfer window last week.

Zamora said: "It speaks volumes for the club and where they want to go. We all said in the changing room, we are in a great position, it would be almost foolish for the club not to keep going on the front foot. And they have certainly shown that and the direction the club wants to go."
