Bobby Zamora celebrated his 35th birthday in style today – and made sure Albion did not set an unwanted club record.
Zamora scored in the third minute at snowy Ewood Park after Jamie Murphy’s shot bounced back off the Blackburn upright.
Albion had equalled a club record by failing to score in six successive matches but Zamora ensured they did not set a worst-ever mark of seven.
The Seagulls went 578 minutes without scoring, their fifth longest drought in terms of playing time.
Their worst run remains a 663-minute blank in the early weeks of the 1970-71 season.
Zamora sidefooted into an unguarded net to give Albion a 1-0 half-time lead.
It was his 82nd league goal for the club, taking him above Peter Ward and into outright fifth place in the club’s all-time list.
