Proud dad Jamie Murphy was delighted to put the record straight against Bolton – and celebrate in style.

Albion’s left winger scored for the second successive game at the Amex as his side held off battling Wanderers to win 3-2.

He also netted at the Macron Stadium this season – but was later sent off before his side were pegged back for a 2-2 draw.

Murphy said: “The last game against Bolton didn't finish too well for me so it was nice to get the win and the goal.

“I still can't quite believe it (the red card) but you learn from these things. I missed three games and you want to be playing.”

Murphy was sent through by Beram Kayal and calmly slid a shot past goalkeeper Ben Amos to open the scoring yesterday.

He added: “If you make runs then good midfielders give you the ball. I got the ball one on one with the goalkeeper so it gave me the angle and I put it in the far corner.

“I grew up playing as a striker so I still think I have that in the back of my head when I'm through on goal.”

After netting, Murphy ran towards the area where players’ families watch the game, sucking his thumb as he went.

He said: “My girlfriend is eight months pregnant. It is something I did with my little girl I already have so I will keep doing it.”
