Crawley midfielder Steve Evans is looking forward to playing for his namesake after committing his future to the club.

Evans has taken up an option on his current deal to stay at the Broadfield Stadium next season.

The former Wales under-21 international scored three times in 17 appearances after joining Reds from Woking in January.

He believes Crawley will be a force in the Conference under new boss Steve Evans.

Evans said: "I've been away so I have not heard all the gossip in terms of who had applied for the job but it was good to hear the club go for someone with a proven track record.

"He has good experience of the Conference and has taken Boston into the League.

"I feel last season will hold the club in good stead and with a bit more luck, some new additions and the influence of the new manager, we can hopefully have a really good season."
