Chris Eubank senior and his son have been slammed by Nick Blackwell for holding a press conference while he was fighting for his life in hospital.

In an interview with The Sun, Brighton fighter Eubank Jr and his father have been labelled “disgusting” and “inhuman” by Blackwell for going against his family’s wishes and holding a press conference three days after the fight.

Blackwell, 25, was placed in an induced coma following his collapse after his tenth-round stoppage defeat to Eubank Jr, 26, at Wembley Arena in their British middleweight title clash.

The Eubanks held a press conference in London three days later, which Eubank senior claimed was in response to the high demand from the media for interviews.

But Blackwell says it was just a publicity stunt to paint themselves as “good guys” and to grab attention.

He said in The Sun: “I haven’t any hard feelings about the fight because you’re in there to win and try and hurt someone — it’s just the stuff he has done after. It’s inhuman, it’s disgusting.

“They were trying to make themselves look like the good guys when they are the opposite.

“My family and friends were begging them not to talk, but they ignored it.

“I’ve only just been shown the press conference and I know exactly what happened. It isn’t human what they’ve done.

“They were grabbing as much attention as they could.

“I was still in a coma but they went ahead and did it.

“That’s the Eubanks, isn’t it? They just want attention, no matter if it’s a bad or a good thing.”

Chris Eubank Jr said: “People and media demanded that we speak to them. If we had just said ‘No comment’ it would have come off as cold.”

Eubank Jr, who claimed the British middleweight title off Blackwell, believes 95 per cent of people felt Team Eubank handled the situation appropriately and people deserved to have their perspective on the fight.

Blackwell was also quoted as saying if he had one more punch he would land it on Chris Eubank Sr's jaw in The Sun.

But today in his first televised interview on Good Morning Britain he laughed off the quote and claimed he did not remembering saying it.

Blackwell’s plight was more poignant because Michael Watson was left with life-changing injuries after a defeat to Eubank senior during his career in September 1991.
