Albion's first home game of the season will be against Colchester United in the League Cup.
The relegated Essex outfit visit the Amex in the week commencing August 8.
The fixture falls between the Seagulls' Championship opener at Derby County on August 6 and the first home league game against Nottingham Forest a week later.
Colchester went down from League One last season.
Albion have met them in the competition twice before, winning 4-0 at home in 1967 and 2-1 on aggregate over two legs in 1992.
