Johanna Konta reached the quarter-finals of her home tournament at Eastbourne today for the second year running with a stunning win against two-time former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova.
The British No.1 came from behind to beat the fifth seed and world No. 11 5-7, 6-4, 6-0 at the Aegon International, to the delight of the centre court crowd at Devonshire Park.
Konta, seeded 11 and ranked 18, dropped the first set after leading 5-2.
She recovered admirably to level the match, then romped away with the decider as Kvitova fell apart to complete victory in 2 hrs 14 mins.
Konta now meets 2010 champion Ekaterina Makarova or Andrea Petkovic in the last eight.
