Jake Forster-Caskey is mulling over uprooting to Rotherham as Albion try to thrash out a deal with their Championship rivals.

The Argus revealed the South Yorkshiremen’s interest in Forster-Caskey last week.

Rotherham are prepared to offer the former England under-21 midfielder a three-year contract but the clubs have yet to agree a fee.

Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United are also thought to be weighing up possible moves for Forster-Caskey, who has just returned with Albion from their week-long training camp in Tenerife.

The 22-year-old, with a year left on his Albion contract, has no prospect of forcing his way into manager Chris Hughton’s first team plans.

He is keen to stay in the Championship but may be reluctant to move away from family and friends, having spent his entire career so far in the south.

The furthest north Southend-born Forster-Caskey has been is Milton Keynes during two loan spells with MK Dons last season.

Rotherham, among bookmakers’ favourites to be relegated under new manager Alan Stubbs, have also been linked with Millwall marksman Lee Gregory and Walsall striker Tom Bradshaw.

Meanwhile, former Albion midfielder Andrew Crofts, on trial at Charlton, featured in their 4-1 friendly win at Welling United on Saturday.
