Sussex have pulled Mustafizur Rahman out of tomorrow’s NatWest T20 Blast match with Glamorgan – on the say-so of Bangladeshi cricket chiefs.

It now appears the fast bowler could have played his last game for the county.

Rahman is suffering for an ongoing shoulder injury which ruled him out of the Royal London One-Day Cup game at Cheltenham on Sunday.

Sussex had already decided to rest him when they face Hampshire in 50-overs action today.

But they saw him as a major part of their attack in tomorrow’s make-or-break T20 tussle with coach Mark Davis saying he was excited by the prospect of his Hove debut.

Now Sussex have announced he will not feature in forthcoming fixtures.

A club statement suggested Rahman might not return to Hove.

It read: “The 20 year-old is suffering from a shoulder injury and, under the direction of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, is due to have a scan this week to ascertain whether or not he will be fit enough to play in any knockout matches should Sussex qualify for the latter stages of either competition.

“Mustafizur himself has nothing but praise for head coach Mark Davis, captain Luke Wright and his team mates, and it is hoped that there is a possibility of him returning to Hove in the future.”
