Pablo Asensio will stage an in-house practice match for his Whitehawk squad.

The Hawks boss will fine-tune tactically behind closed doors.

Hawks completed their pre-season programme with a 1-0 win over Albion under-23s and he felt they were better in the second half than in the first.

Asensio said: “The first half looked to me like we needed to sort out a couple of defensive points. I was very pleased in the second half.

“Football is funny. We didn’t play so well in the first half but we scored.

“The commitment was there but I wasn’t pleased tactically and Brighton had more of the ball.

“We were better in the second half. We were in their faces, we were in their half going up the hill.”

The Argus:

Danny Mills hit an extraordinary, dipping winner from a wide angle (pictured above by David Hunt) after racing on to Sergio Torres's through ball.

Hawks see new boy Javier Favarel as a pivotal figure in midfield but will encourage him not to play as deep as in the first half against the young Seagulls.

Asensio said: “I’m happy with my goalkeeper, I’m happy with my four centre-backs. I still need to work with my full-backs but I’m happy to see Danny Mills scoring goals.

“We have averaged 2.2 injuries per game in pre-season – which I’m not so happy about!”
