Adri Munoz will be given the chance to make the Whitehawk No.1 spot his own – after an inspired display off the bench.

The Catalan goalkeeper is expected to start today at home to Wealdstone after helping Hawks to a good midweek point.

What is likely to be a three-game ban for Lucas Covolan then kicks in as a result of his crazy red card at Ebbsfleet on Tuesday.

Covolan purposely clattered into ex-Hawks favourite Sam Deering after catching a cross early in the second half with his team 1-0 down.

Munoz went on for his debut in English football and saw Charlie Sheringham miss the resulting penalty.

But the former Manlleu and Llagostera goalkeeper made a couple of super saves as Hawks salvaged a very creditable 1-1 draw.

The Argus:

Now Pablo Asensio will keep faith with him – while insisting Covolan (pictured above by David Hunt) can still have a big part to play.

Asensio told The Argus: “Lucas will get three games but Adri was very good. He did unbelievably well. He made a great one-handed save right by the post when it could have been 2-0.

“He deserves to play. It is very difficult to jump into a game like that.

“Adri will play but, at the same time, I don’t want to kill Lucas. It was a mistake. He said sorry to the group and sorry to me.

“Lucas has done very well and I have spoken to him. He will be back stronger.”

Asensio was pleased with the point at Ebbsfleet and felt his side could have gone on to win the game.

But he recognises a haul of four points from as many matches so far is below his expectations.

He sees a big finish to the month as key, starting today at home to a Wealdstone side who are among the early leading pack.

Asensio said: “Results have not been that good. In the last three games in August we need to get as close as possible to the top in order to balance the boat.

“I think the Ebbsfleet game will help us. Everyone believes more now.”

Hawks complete the month by visiting St Albans and then entertaining Concord.
