Albion have strengthened their full-back options with the capture of Belgium international Sebastien Pocognoli on loan for the rest of the season from West Brom.

They are also still trying to add to their strike force before the transfer window shuts at 11pm tomorrow.

The addition of Pocognoli, 29, provides cover and competition at left-back for Gaetan Bong, who has yet to recapture the form he showed last season before suffering a long-term thigh injury.

It also offers a safety net as Liam Rosenior, who can play at right-back or left-back, is sidelined by ankle damage.

Pocognoli has the chance to revive a career which has nosedived at the Hawthorns under Tony Pulis. The former Standard Liege, AZ Alkmaar and Hannover defender made one Premier League appearance as a substitute for the Baggies last season.

Lack of game time wrecked his hopes of being in the Belgium squad for the Euro finals in France in the summer, having represented his country 13 times at senior level as well as at the 2008 Olympics and from the under-16s through to the under-21s.

Meanwhile, Albion have told Burnley to forget about trying to sign Dale Stephens on the final day of the window.

The Seagulls turned down a FIFTH bid from the Premier League outfit for the midfielder worth over £7 million, as exclusively revealed on The Argus website today.

The latest rejection was accompanied by a blunt message - don't bother coming back again.

Burnley have subsequently turned their attention back to Derby’s Jeff Hendrick. The Republic of Ireland international is expected to join them tomorrow in a club record £10.5 million deal.
