Chris Hughton has urged Albion to take strength from surviving their tense finale against Wolves.

The Seagulls held on in added time to secure three points and banish memories of their late slip-up three days earlier against Preston.

They now prepare to visit a Wigan Athletic side buoyed by an injury-time equaliser of their own at Leeds on Tuesday.

Hughton said: “If you don’t kill off the game when you are up against a good side there will always be a danger but I think we can gain something from that.

“I think you gain a lot as a team when you have periods that you defend with strength – and that is what we did.”

Connor Goldson looks set to start in central defence in place of Lewis Dunk at Wigan. Dunk must serve a one-game suspension for collecting five bookings.

But Albion are confident skipper Bruno will be fit after he made a precautionary early exit against Wolves.

Wigan could bring Catalan playmaker Jordi Gomez back into their starting midfield for the home test with the Seagulls.

They did not pick up any new injuries at Elland Road and are unbeaten in their last four games – but have only won one of their last 11.

Former Albion striker Craig Davies is likely to be among their substitutes.
