Albion's captain fantastic Bruno is poised to continue his remarkable unbroken run of appearances – and enhance his reputation as a role model.

The 36-year-old Spaniard has shrugged off fatigue and is ready to lead the side again at Wigan tomorrow.

It will be Bruno’s 62nd league start on the trot, stretching back almost 18 months to the final game of the 2014-15 season.

The right-back limped off in the closing stages of Tuesday’s 1-0 home win over Wolves.

Boss Chris Hughton is “very confident” he will be fit to play his third match in eight days in Lancashire.

Hughton said of the former Valencia defender: “He’s an excellent professional for any young lad coming here and watching, how he looks after himself, how he conducts himself, and the levels that he’s played at.

“He is a very big inspiration to any of the young lads but he is only able to do that because of his quality. It is all right being available for that many games but to play them is because of your quality.”

Israeli striker Tomer Hemed is also on course to return to the squad after two matches out with thigh trouble.

Connor Goldson makes his first Championship start of the season in the centre of defence in place of the banned Lewis Dunk as Albion try to stretch their unbeaten run to eight matches against the team one place off the foot of the table.
